About Us

Mr. Angelo Torello, a self-made businessman from Smiths Creek, Michigan, seized and enjoyed the challenge in building Fore Lakes Golf Club. Fore Lakes opened in Spring 2000. Mr. Torello, 68 years old, and his wife Jeannie of 20 years, have seven children. Through a hard work ethic and faith, Mr. Torello was fortunate to build a golf course right out in front of his own home. Mr. Torello is currently pursuing development of a banquet center on top of the split-log club house.

Fore Lakes Golf Club's
overall mission: "To consistently strive to be the best Golf facility it can be. This will be accomplished by exceeding our guest's escalating expectations and provide them with a distinctive ambiance, outstanding food, and an environment that treats our guests as number one."

Golf Course shows Torello never learned meaning of 'impossible' _

When it comes to golf courses, I found
another slice of heaven the other day, right
here in our own backyard. I'm talking about
the new Fore Lakes Golf Club on Flinchbaugh Road in Kimball Township that opened this Spring.

Port Huron and St. Clair County are blessed
with some of the most beautiful golf courses there are. But the Fore Lakes Golf Club has to be one of the brightest jewels in Michigan's crown of golf courses. In a word, Fore Lakes is incredible.

Now look, right up front: I want everyone to
know that I'm no Tiger Woods or Bob May. My friends will certainly vouch for that. No,
I'm just a duffer, a golf hacker who loves the game and the challenge, romance, and beauty of the golf course itself. Why, there are some area golf courses I've hacked up so badly that they have
asked me to keep my clubs in my

bag.
Recently, though, through the kind
invitation of John Nolan, manager of the Fore Lakes Golf Club, I was given a
golf-cart tour of this beautiful work of art, while a few of my friends played the 18-hole, Par 71, 6,564-yard public course. When I asked John
who owned the golf course, he said S. A. Torello, a self-made man from Smiths Creek. When John said that Mr. Torello was a self-made man, I knew then why this golfing jewel was built here.
Until a couple of weeks ago, I had never met Mr. Torello. His family and friends affectionately call this modest, 65-year-old, multi-millionaire, "Silvio" or "Angelo." His wife of 17 years, Jeannie -- they have
seven children -- says her husband is a workaholic who has no immediate plans

for retirement. "Right now, he's planning another big development," Jeannie said, "He's always been a dreamer ready to answer any challenge."
Yes, Angelo Torello was the story behind the story for me. Angelo owns S. A. Torello Trucking and Demolition Inc. at 3500 Dove Road. He has been in the trucking business for the past 53 years. And, yes, Angelo Torello is what true success stories are all about. A teacher in grade school once told him that if he dropped out of school, he'd never amount to anything.

Angelo was born on Nov. 20, 1934, to Vincenzo and Vincenzina Torelllo. He had five brothers and three sisters, and the family was raised on a truck
